I have vivid memories of the early 2000s when I was approaching my third/final year of university. If you had any interactions with the US during that period, you may recall the University of Phoenix advertisements – they were pioneers in online education and tirelessly promoted it, trying to get us all to join the bandwagon!
I can still recall the numerous discussions within university communities about the potential of online learning and its possible impact on traditional brick-and-mortar universities. At first, the traditional institutions were extremely resistant, but circumstances eventually forced them to reconsider. The rise of the digital age and the internet brought (and is still bringing) forth countless possibilities, regardless of initial acceptance or denial.
